Introducing a Magento rapid development training

Yireo Blog Post

Magento is considered to be complex, and therefore development with Magento often takes a lot of time. It therefore makes absolute sense to try to be as productive as possible with Magento. Yireo now introduces a new course, focusing on the efficiency of Magento development.

What does rapid development in Magento include?

First of all, rapid development is often the term to refer to getting things done fast, developing faster. It is often linked to Rapid Application Development (RAD) but I think that term applies less to Magento development: With Magento, the application is already built (Magento) and running a project often boils down more to customization and implementation than building things from scratch.

Things like agile working, SCRUM, working from MVPs, etc, often lead from this concept. And definitely all of this plays a role in Magento. On top of these rapid development methodologies, tools like PHPStorm plugins, the right tests, a CI/CD chain, Hyvä, Magewire lead up to more efficient development as well.

So how to develop faster with Magento?

If you want to develop with Magento, you can get trained, watch online videos, follow tutorials. However, if you want to develop faster with Magento, the first assumption is that you already know your thing in Magento. Second, you will need to learn every time again and again new tips and tricks (and put them into practice).

And if your knowledge is not full up to date, this might take a lot of time. You can do all of this yourself. (You can also teach your children math at home.) But learning things in big chunks is often a good way to grow fast.

A training

That's where our Magento Rapid Development training comes in: In short, it contains a huge collection of tips and tricks.

However, I'm confident to say that some of these tips are actually not well known. Some examples: The downsides of composer patches; TDD is actually dead but testing is not; the importance of data-first design; growing habits in your development cycle; feature flags; functional testing without fluffy things like MFTF; alternative deployments; what to generate with AI and what not; value objects in Magento. See the course page for more topics.

And the main benefit of putting this in a training is that it is more than just a collection of tips: We'll dive into why and how as well. What makes sense and what does not (for instance, don't waste time on TDD, write a simple functional test first). And we'll hand you over courseware and assignments to pick up on all of this yourself later.

Collaboration between Len and Jisse

This Magento Rapid Development training came to be by putting the brains of Len Lorijn and Jisse Reitsma (me) together. Len has been a senior developer for many years already, having worked for various well-known Dutch agencies (Elgentos being the current one). Throughout the years, he has guided many other developers and put together knowledge of how to get things done in Magento efficiently.

I'm very excited to work together with Len, he is a master in what he does and is able to explain things thoroughly as well.

Live training first

The rapid development courseware is still in progress. The way we deal with things, is first put this to the test with live training. The main benefit here is that all of the knowledge is given to people face-to-face to make sure the right explanation is given.

The first live training is currently scheduled in september. Custom training (either in-house or online) is also an option.

We will be recording the first video lessons on the same material soon as well. So stay tuned for more!
